VULNERABILITY SUMMARY
A potential security vulnerability has been identified with HP StoreEver
MSL6480 Tape Library running Bash. This is the Bash Shell vulnerability known
as "Shellshock" which could be exploited remotely to allow execution of code.

RESOLUTION

HP has released the following firmware update to resolve the vulnerability
for HP StoreEver MSL6480 Tape Library.

  HP StoreEver MSL6480 Tape Library firmware v4.60 (available December, 2014)

The update can be found at the following location:

  Go to http://www.hp.com

  1. Click on "Support"

  2. From the pull-down, select "Drivers & Downloads"

  3. In the Find my Product field, enter "MSL6480"

  4. Expand the "HP StoreEver MSL6480 Tape Library " entry

  5. Select "HP StoreEver MSL6480 Scalable Base Module"

  6. Select "OS Independent" for the operating system

  7. Expand the "Firmware  Storage Tape" entry

  8. Download the most recent library firmware file, such as
HP_MSL6480_4.60.frm
